PUBLIC ENVIRONMENTAL RISK POLICY AND STATEMENT

This policy is a part of the environmental risk assessment framework at Dr. Denim. The documentation is reviewed annually following the Worldly® BRM cycle. By performing an annual review, one ascertains that the policy caters to changes in business, changes in established business practices and market conditions. For further information on environmental risks and assessment, please reach out to our team or send a share request to Dr. Denim on the Worldly® platform.

Dr. Denim recognizes its commitment to manage its business in a way that meets local, national and international regulations and practice in order to prevent, mitigate and remediate negative impacts on the environment. At Dr. Denim, we recognize that our business activities have an impact on the environment and that we have a responsibility to minimize that impact. To achieve this, we will:

Climate

  • Measure and manage our greenhouse gas emissions and strive to reduce our carbon footprint.
  • Promote energy efficiency and the use of energy which is as environmentally friendly as possible, such as renewable energy, fission-based energy or fusion-based energy.
  • Encourage practices with an impact on the climate as low as possible in our supply chain.
  • Calculate the impact for selected product groups using the best available data, which is on the Worldly® platform, and use that data when sourcing and nominating fabrics for new products.

Water

  • Monitor and manage our water usage to reduce the water intake and to reduce the discharge of polluted water in our supply chain.
  • Promote reuse practices in our supply chain.
  • Calculate the impact for selected product groups using the best available data, which is on the Worldly® platform, and use that data when sourcing and nominating fabrics for new products.

Waste

  • Minimise waste generation and promote waste reduction and recycling practices in our operations and supply chain.
  • Manage our hazardous waste in a safe and responsible manner to reduce the risk of pollution and harm to human health and the environment.

Biodiversity

  • Promote responsible land use practices in our supply chain.
  • Minimise the impact of our activities on ecosystems and biodiversity.

Chemicals

  • Reduce the chemical impact of material production and product production in our supply chain.
  • Be an active member of the Swedish Chemicals Group and conduct risk assessments of the products made in our supply chain.
  • Whenever feasible and practical, we will seek to identify and implement safer alternatives to hazardous chemicals and reduce our reliance on substances of concern.
  • Promote certifications or ISO-standards for handling, storage, use, discharge and disposal of hazardous chemicals in our supply chain.
  • Calculate the impact for selected product groups using the best available data, which is on the Worldly® platform, and use that data when sourcing and nominating fabrics for new products.

Surplus production

  • Further, at Dr. Denim we follow and maintain the process which reduces the waste generated by surplus and/or stock production. This process was revised significantly in 2022 based on among other things the McKinsey & Company report Biodiversity: The next frontier in sustainable fashion, which shows (see Exhibit 1 in the report) that the relative impact on biodiversity in the apparel value chain is the highest in the stages up to and including material preparation and processing. Therefore, by taking steps to reducing the production of unsold goods, we can reduce our impact on biodiversity.
